You CAN DIY

DIY= Do it yourself projects can be SO INTIMIDATING. Even if we are creative people achieving the look that is in our minds can be seemingly hard. Maybe you have never done a DIY project yet and don't even know if you have the tools you need to start, or perhaps you have done multiple small projects and are scared to go bigger! Wherever you feel like you are at I am here to tell you that you CAN achieve your DIY goals.

When me and my husband, Jon, started attempting our own DIY projects there were some major setbacks. We often had to restart multiple times and think things through longer. However, we did not find ourselves giving up. Now our first brand new home is filled with our own DIY creations.

Our biggest problem was communication. We didn't walk through how every detail would be done. We also went to fast or bought too cheap of products. If it is a long lasting product you will want to invest into the materials.

These are just a handful of the projects Jon and I have created/achieved in our new Oakwood Home. Check them out for some inspiration!

I found some inspiration for this entryway on Pinterest. We clearly have very limited space in our doorway so we bought some boards painted them black and drilled them into studs so they could hold all of the things!

My amazing hubby MADE THIS BED! Now that is an extreme project; however those floating shelves next to our bed we found at Walmart for $4 each! Found some black "L" shaped mounts and we had ourselves some cheep and easy bedside tables!

Don't be afraid to paint some accent walls.. The worst thing that could happen is that you repaint over it. The best thing that could happen is that you have fun walls everyone loves to see in your home!

Make your own coffee or wine bar! These are so fun to create. I have seen everything from antique bar carts to home made built ins. Wherever you scale your own DIY level at... make your goals easy, precise, and obtainable!

These DIY fireplaces are trending everywhere! Such a fantastic addition to any space in your home. Ours is found in our master bedroom next to this desk nook. We took some black paint, a board of wood, a couple hinges, and wires, and we created our self a cozy work space that is cute to look at too!

It is easiest to have someone to bounce ideas off of when trying to figure out how to make a projects work. Don't put so much pressure on how it will turn out and enjoy the process of creating something that is totally your own. You CAN DIY!

- Until next time Sophia Marie
