Holiday Cooking Tips

Updated: Jan 8, 2020

Hey Friends! Its Tuesday, and I'm coming your way with some of my favorite holiday baking tips..

  • Freeze- This one is probably the best tips I have to offer. I am all about getting this done and out of the way so I can enjoy holidays. If you want to make cookies to bring to a party or like doing cookies for your neighbors, my best advice is to START BAKING. It normally doesn't jeopardize the quality of the cookies, especially if you're making sugar cookies or ginger bread cookies. So to be able to check something off your list a little early, make some cookies now and freeze them!

  • Shop- If you beginning shopping for items that have good shelf life now, it can do a couple helpful things for you. It will help you spread out the cost, have a shorter grocery list when the isles become a madhouse, and have the extra ingredients instead of worrying about running out. You can get most of the ingredients to make stuffing, pies, potatoes (one week out), breads, sauces, and so much more.

  • Use Parchment Paper- Use really whatever you can to make dishes an easier clean up. The last thing you want to do, after cooking a huge meal and hosting others, is clean all of your pots and pans. I even line bread pans with it so I can pop the bread out mess free.

  • Ask for All the Help- Mom's are not the only one that have to cook on the holidays. Kids, relatives, and friends can help too. Don't feel bad about asking others for help. Holidays are not just about the food. They're about the quality time. So take advantage of that time in the kitchen too!

  • Try Something New- Don't be afraid to add new recipes to your traditional meals. 90% of the time they work out and become a BIG hit. Just don't wait until the night before to try and find something new, or else you will kick yourself in the butt for it.

Ultimately I hope cooking and baking for you are so enjoyable this holiday season! Enjoy the time with friends and family. Remember to reach out to those people who might not have family to celebrate with and take them in. Ultimately be GRATEFUL for all you have and all that the Lord has given you. Happy Holidays!
