Dare to Celebrate Often

I’ve miss you so much! This week I am posting about daring to celebrate often. It’s an area of life I have been personally working on. There are so many benefits to being deliberate about your celebration. It significantly helps you create healthy thought patterns in your everyday life.

Celebration is the act of acknowledging a significant event or subject with a social gathering, enjoyable activity, or an act of outward praise or expression of excitement.

While sometimes celebration can be a first initial response, this is also a very intentional act. Let talk about how we can strategically incorporate celebration into our lives more.

First, in almost every definition of celebration, it talks about acknowledgement. Allow yourself to think of the good things and significant events in your life. It’s very healthy to keep your thoughts grateful. It’s also important to share those thoughts with other people.

Intentionally doing this might look like you calling your friend from high school saying, “Remember that day we both made a pact that we would always ..... it was this time of year wasn’t it?” Celebrating memories and happy times involves sharing it with people and reminding each other of good things. As a Christian, this is really what Sunday church is all about. It’s coming together as a family each week to celebrate over Jesus and what He has done for us.

Next, intentionally planning a time and place to celebrate is important! Celebrate small victories in your life by doing something for yourself, or you could celebrate other things by inviting people over, spending time alone remembering, or making someone feel special. There are anniversaries, and big milestones, hard times you got through, and all sorts of things you can celebrate with the people you love.

At Christmas time and New Years it’s incredibly important to become thoughtful of how and why we celebrate- to think about the good and the bad we have experienced, and rejoice over who and what we have. This is a special time of year where almost everyone is celebrating something. It’s also a time where people can feel most broken and alone.

If I could challenge you in one specific way today it would be... to be more thoughtful of the people in and outside of your personal bubble. Think about the memories you have with them. Think about how you can invite them to celebrate with you.

Personally, I think thoughtful celebration boils down to gratefulness. Living life with a grateful and thoughtful heart blesses us and other people, and celebration is an amazing way to express those emotions. I celebrate with you guys this week as we challenge ourselves to be joyous over what we have. Merry Christmas! I am so thankful for you.
